Grateful and Faithful Deaconesses

GMC Deaconesses at their spiritual retreat, Cavinti, Laguna.

After 8:00 in the morning on May 28, 2024, two vans carrying two groups of deaconesses departed from Golden Faith Academy's Montevista campus, bound for Las Brisas Island PH in Cavinti, Laguna. As we set out, filled with elation and excitement, lively conversations surely filled both vans. In the first van, where the more experienced deaconesses were seated, these words were overheard from two of the group's members:

“Akala ko relaxation ang retreat, kaso pinagtatrabaho nila tayo, tayo ang speakers!” [I thought this retreat was for relaxation, but it turns out we're working—we're the speakers!]

“Oo nga, hanggang ngayon nagpipray ako ng sasabihin.” [Yeah, I'm still praying about what to say even now.]

What was initially anticipated as a relaxing and enjoyable event turned out to surpass everyone's expectations, guided by God. Three words encapsulate the essence of the retreat:

Captivating…

The island itself mirrors the beauty of its Creator. Every photo taken is undeniably picturesque or instagrammable, as they say, capturing the essence of the surroundings. The sight of its lush trees and the melody of birdsong inspire heartfelt worship. Far from the bustle of the city, this island truly feels like paradise, a place where God's presence is palpable.

Enlightening...

God imparted a wealth of wisdom worth cherishing. Despite the speakers' admission of hastily prepared talks, every word they uttered resonated deeply with the participants. They were encouraged to be intentional in all aspects of life, be it in ministry or personal endeavors. Participants were guided to release pent-up emotions, ensuring sincerity in their service. They also learned to pray with impact and receive divine guidance, aligning their ministry with the Holy Spirit's wisdom and will. Ultimately, they realized that serving God and His people relies not on human strength but on the Spirit's leading

Unity in Christ..

It was just overnight, but before the end of the second day, an epiphany, an “aha” moment dawned upon this Nanay-writer: the joy of belonging to a community united by a shared passion for the Lord. While sharing experiences with like-minded individuals is already fulfilling, experiencing profound spiritual growth with them is transformative. Such experiences deepen faith and gratitude toward God.

On May 30, 2024, at 12:45 am, the final post in the Global Deaconesses GC captured what we all wanted to say: “Praise God for my new circle of friends. I am immensely blessed and thankful today. I spent two days in the presence of God, worshiping alongside beautiful and spiritually rich individuals like you. I eagerly anticipate more spiritual fellowship with you all.” - Sharon Padang-Caja

The collective response echoed "amen" through likes and heart emojis, affirming our shared joy and aspiration.

 To God be the glory!
